Welcome to Therapy with Reema
I understand that finding and choosing a therapist can be challenging. You may feel overwhelmed or not know what to look for. My advice to you is to find a therapist that is accredited, has some experience in areas you find interesting and is someone you can connect with. Let me tell you a bit about my therapeutic background and you can decide if you think I can help you.
Why does accreditation matter?
You’ll come across many therapists that are accredited and many that are not, my suggestion to you is to find someone who is. For CBT therapists, this is done through the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) who are a governing body that hold therapists accountable to ethical and best practice. I am required to attend regular supervision and CPD to continue developing my therapeutic skills.
What approach do I take?
I am a qualified CBT Therapist but my approach is integrative. I will always use CBT foundations as the basis to my work, but will often weave in elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, psychodynamic-informed approaches and counselling skills to help find the right approach for you.
What is my educational background?
I studied my BSc degree at Royal Holloway, University of London, and did my CBT PGCert and PGDip at the University of Southampton.
